I stumbled across an entry from my friend David's blog ( IamDavidJ.blogspot.com ) and was totally intrigued by his post on photographer David Maisel's Library Dust series. The copper canisters contain the remains of cremated psychiatric patients from the Oregon State Insane Asylum whose bodies are unclaimed by their families. Some kind of crazy chemical transformation takes place and is the result of these beautiful photos. I can't get over the colors or the fact that they hold what once was a living soul....
is reminiscent of unfired enamel!!!
